Friend of mine wrote this.
I look in the mirror tonight as I prepare myself for sleep, I had to look again and stare long and hard, not even sure I recognized the person staring back at me. I see the shadows of my mother - the eyes, the almost shape of her face. I see the shadows of my father - the nose, the build with more length. I see the shadows of the little girl that was; the same face, longer, lips fuller, eyes deeper. I see the scars of the past - they all belong to me but I’m not sure I recognize the person looking back at me. A trick? Perhaps I know not I can only help but wonder if I’m lost. Come find me, bring me back, show me life, show me light. Let me laugh, let me love. Just a touch, a hug, a smile that belongs to an angel from up above.
